CALL FOR PAPERS
There will be 8 primary tracks for the ISAGA05 meeting. Within each track will be numerous sessions with wide varieties of potential subject areas in simulations and games. An award for the outstanding paper has been expanded to a potential outstanding award for each track.
In addition, ISAGA05 is expecting the conference in Atlanta to have many games and simulations ?played? during the conference. We want the attendees to submit games to be played at ISAGA05. There will be a ?best game? award among those games played during the 2005 conference.
The primary tracks will be:
Theory Development in Gaming and Simulation (including Game Theory and Economic Theory) This track addresses the process of making games and simulations better;
Research into games and simulations This track addresses research into the outcomes of games, their causes and consequences and the relationship between intended outcomes and actual outcomes from playing simulations and games;
Policy Exercises This track addresses games and simulation designed to assist strategic change);
Games and Simulations for Learning Environments This track includes Games and simulations in an E-learning environment, Games and simulations for primary and secondary education and collegiate classrooms including business games and games that enhance knowledge skills;
Games and Simulations to Enhance Communications Skills This track includes negotiation exercises as well as other communications skills games and simulations;
Games and Simulations for Solving Complex Problems This track includes health related and other social, government and business problems including war games, anticipating and controlling terrorist threats, investigating intervention programs, etc;
Expressions of Creative Art This track includes programming languages, novel graphics applications, and computer and video games and last but not least;
Other tracks will be considered if and when they are proposed to ISAGA05.
You should send your article as an MSWord-, rich text- or .txt file. Please do not send a pdf-file or .html-file, because this requires a lot of extra formatting.
If you are presenting a research or theory based paper you may choose from either a 30 minute/ 45 minute or a 1 hour presentation time slot. If you are running a workshop or demonstrating a game, or a panel discussion you will have you choice of a 1, 2 or 3 hour time slot.
Deadlines
Early submission of proposals and abstracts is strongly recommended. Recognition at the Friday night dinner will be given to authors who submit their work by 15 November 2004 and they shall receive a small gift from the conference organizer as well. Early submissions will be notified of their acceptance by 31 December, 2004. Include with your paper, abstract or proposal your choice of paper, workshop or game format and the amount of time you are requesting for your presentation. Poster sessions will last for at least one-half day.
Proposals and abstracts received after 1 January but before 1 February will be notified of your acceptance on or before 15 February, 2005. Again, include your choice of paper or workshop format and the length of time you require for you presentation. Proposals or abstracts received after 15 February will be accepted on a ?space available? basis.
All final drafts of documents and papers must be submitted before 15 May to be included in the CD-Rom based proceedings. All proposals, abstracts final documents and papers need to be submitted via E-mail as an attachment to: ISAGA05@mgt.gatech.edu. Please use Times New Roman Font and 12 point type
The Games and Simulations of ISAGA05 book
Authors whose papers are selected for the Games and Simulations of ISAGA05 book will have until 1 September 2005 to submit corrections. These articles should be limited to a size of no more than 4000 words. (Please count them with your text editor). If you use charts, images or illustrations you should calculate 300 Words less per half a page of charts, images or illustrations. Articles with more than 4000 words will be edited before they are published in the Games and Simulations of ISAGA05 book. First editing will be: all references will be omitted and the phrase, ?See author for references? will be inserted.
